China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) released data on Green Electricity Certificate (GEC) issuance and trading for January 2025.
GEC Issuance Figures
Monthly (Jan 2025):
• A total of 231 million GECs issued in the month, a year-on-year increase of 2.25 times.
• A total of 150 million GECs, or around 65%, were tradable
• GECs were issued for some 65,000 renewable energy generation projects
• 39.43 million solar GECs
• 94.74 million wind GECs
Cumulative:
• 5.186 billion GECs issued, of which 3.529 billion are tradable
• 961.85 million solar GECs issued
• 2.154 billion wind GECs issued
