
Qingdao Chengtou to Supply GECs to China Resources Group
Qingdao Chengtou New Energy Group has announced that it successfully won a bid to sell 74,565 Green Electricity Certificates (GECs) to the China Resources Group. The GECs were delivered on 13 March 2025.
This transaction is the first market-oriented GEC sale the company, marking an important milestone in its commercial operations for green energy.
Qingdao Chengtou has invested in more than 80 wind and solar power stations in 19 provinces and cities across the country, with a cumulative installed capacity of more than 3 GW, producing more than 4.6 billion KWh of renewable electricity every year. This is equivalent to 1.46 million tonnes of coal and reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 4 million tonnes.
The company added that it will further develop new business models such as the construction of charging networks, integrated energy services, energy storage, and power load side management, with the goal to become a leading integrated energy and green power supplier.
National Energy Administration Approves GECs from Yantai Energy Group
On 16 March 2025, Yantai Energy Group announced that the National Energy Administration has approved the first batch of Green Electricity Certificates (GECs) generated from its Renli Metal Distributed Photovoltaic Power Generation Project.
The Group added that it will take this opportunity to increase investment and innovation in the field of renewable energy, apply for GECs for investment and construction of qualified distributed photovoltaic power generation projects, and further explore more green energy application scenarios.
Solar GECs from Sewage Plant Approved
On 25 March 2025, Yangtze Ecology and Environment Group announced that Yueyang Lingang Sewage Plant of its subsidiary, Yangtze River Qingyuan Company, has successfully applied for its first batch of Green Electricity Certificates (GECs) from the National Energy Administration.
The GECs were generated from distributed photovoltaic devices that were installed at the sewage plant. Sites included the roof of the sewage plant, biochemical pond and other spaces.
The Group also shared that it has deployed distributed photovoltaic projects in more than 20 sewage plants, with a total installed capacity of more than 34 MW and an estimated annual power generation of more than 35,000 MWh.
